Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger isn’t sure how long Aaron Rodgers’ will last.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had a very impressive debut in the black and gold, throwing for 244 yards and four touchdowns against the New York Jets. However, former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger isn’t sure how long he’ll be able to keep it up.

Roethlisberger is very concerned about Rodgers’ longevity in Pittsburgh. It isn’t related to his play, but rather the current state of the offensive line.

“I’m very encouraged by the way Aaron played,” Roethlisberger said on the latest episode of “Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger.” “My concern is going to be, moving forward, can Aaron take a beating like that every week? Not at that age. … If that doesn’t improve, we’re not gonna have a quarterback very long, and it’s gonna be a rough season.”

Rodgers was sacked four times by the Jets on Sunday. Luckily, the 41-year-old seemed to escape the game without any injuries.

However, protecting Rodgers must be the Steelers’ No. 1 priority if they hope to stay competitive the rest of the season. Roethlisberger thinks he knows the culprit, too.

“What’s going on on the O-line has to be like pulling hair out,” Roethlisberger said. “Because you’re running for 53 yards, and you’ve given up four sacks. And with all due respect, Broderick Jones looks like a turnstile. I mean, it was bad. I don’t know how many of the sacks were on him, but it felt like there was a lot of pressure coming from that left side.”

Jones did have a very disappointing performance in Week 1. According to Pro Football Focus, he allowed three sacks and four pressures.

That was not the type of performance many were hoping to see after he made the switch back to his natural position this season.

Only time will tell if Jones can improve his game, but he better do it quickly if he hopes to keep his starting job and Rodgers healthy enough to live to play another week.
