Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is facing a one-game suspension from the NFL after he was captured on video spitting on Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey in the Steelers’ 34-12 win over Cincinnati on Sunday.

The announcement was reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Ramsey was ejected from the game after punching Chase in the fourth quarter, saying after the game it was because the wide receiver spit on him. Referee Bill Vinovich said in the postgame pool report that he didn’t see the spit.

Chase denied spitting on Ramsey after the game, but a video posted by FOX19’s Austin Briski later clearly showed that the incident took place.

If the suspension is upheld, Chase will miss the Bengals’ upcoming game against the New England Patriots and return for Cincinnati’s Week 13 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter was ejected from a game and fined $57,222 after spitting on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in Week 1. He was suspended a game by the NFL, but because he was ejected seconds into the Cowboys matchup, Week 1 counted towards it.

NFL Public Relations’ Brian McCarthy said that if Chase appeals the suspension, his case will be heard by either Derrick Brooks, Jordy Nelson, or former Steeler Ramon Foster.
