Well there is the guard.

The Cincinnati Bengals have signed interior offensive lineman Lucas Patrick.

According to A to Z Sports’ John Sheeran, the Bengals are signing Patrick to a one-year deal worth $2.1 million.

Patrick spent last season with the New Orleans Saints and the two prior to that with the Chicago Bears after spending his first four years as a Packer after making the team as an undrafted free agent.

He played mostly left guard last season while also 88 snaps at center. The good is he didn't allow a sack last season and he only had six penalties called on him.

The not-so-great thing is that he was the 54th-ranked guard out of 135 by Pro Football Focus. He was 79th in pass blocking.

At 31 years old, Patrick will likely be a stopgap either at left or right guard. The team hopefully plans to add more to that group either in free agency or via the draft.

The big issue is the guard market is thinning out quickly, and it feels like this team still feels comfortable with players Luke Cody Ford, Cordell Volson and Lucas being slated as starters.

He started 10 games last year and missed the final two games with a knee injury. He seems more suited to be a good backup than someone you plan to start. We will see how it works out.
