The Cincinnati Bengals have had plenty of problems on their roster in recent years, but the quarterback has not been one of them. Joe Burrow has emerged as a superstar, but he has unfortunately suffered from multiple injuries during his career.
On Sunday, another ailment popped up. During the first half of the Bengals’ Week 2 clash against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Burrow suffered a toe injury while being sacked.

Burrow went off to the medical tent before slowly limping back to the locker room, and the Bengals later announced that he is questionable to return, via Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. He is also receiving an MRI for the injury. Jake Browning is currently in the game at quarterback while Burrow is evaluated.
Over the years, Burrow has struggled with calf and wrist injuries, as well as a serious knee injury that he suffered near the end of his rookie season. The Bengals will be hoping that this injury isn’t nearly as serious and that their star quarterback can return to the field before too long.
The Bengals have still struggled on defense to start this season, just like they did last season when they finished with one of the worst defenses in football. That has persisted, but the offensive line has also taken a step back to its 2022-23 levels when it was a real problem in Cincinnati.
Burrow has been under constant duress through the first six quarters of the season, and that pressure is ultimately what got him knocked out of the game.
The Bengals didn’t get off to a great start with Browning in the second quarter. After a Trevor Lawrence interception deep in Jacksonville territory, Browning was unable to capitalize and the Bengals were forced to settle for a field goal. On the next drive, Browning cost the Bengals more points with an ugly interception as the Jags lead 17-10 at halftime.
If Burrow is forced to miss extended time, the Bengals can kiss their playoff hopes goodbye. They will be eagerly awaiting his status as they try to mount a second-half comeback in Week 2.
