York is going on the practice squad but will be the Bengals’ primary kicker.

The Cincinnati Bengals have signed kicker Cade York to the practice squad and placed Evan McPherson on injured reserve, the team announced Wednesday.

In addition, the Bengals signed offensive tackle Andrew Stueber off the practice squad to the 53-man roster.

York, weighing in at 6-foot-1 and 198 pounds, is a second-year player out of LSU who was originally a fourth-round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2022. He played in all 17 games as a rookie for the Browns and converted 24/32 field-goal attempts along with 35 of 37 PATs. He spent the 2023 season on Cleveland’s practice squad and was acquired by the Washington Commanders via trade during this past training camp. York played in one regular-season game for the Commanders before being waived on September 9th.

McPherson, a fourth-year player, suffered a right groin injury in the team’s Week 13 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He won’t be eligible to come off IR until the regular-season finale, so his season may officially be over.

Stueber, a first-year player, spent seven weeks on Cincinnati’s active roster earlier this season and played in four games. He was waived by the Bengals on November 28th and signed the next day to the practice squad, where he spent the team’s Week 13 game against the Steelers.
