The Cincinnati Bengals will likely be without some key defenders for Week 12 against the New England Patriots and are set to be down their top offensive weapon in Ja’Marr Chase (suspension) as well.
Quarterback Joe Burrow is progressing in his recovery from his toe injury but is unlikely to suit up on Sunday too.
Cincinnati did, however, welcome a pair of players back to practice on Wednesday, including former Patriots tight end Mike Gesicki.
“We have cleared S Daijahn Anthony and TE Mike Gesicki to return to practice today,” the Bengals official account posted on X.
While the move is a step in the right direction for Gesicki — who’s been on injured reserve since Oct. 15 with a pectoral ailment — there’s no guarantee that he’ll take the field in Week 12.
Wednesday does open a 21-day period during which the 30-year-old can be activated to the roster.
Gesicki spent the first five seasons of his career with the Miami Dolphins before signing with New England in March 2023.
The former second-round pick recorded 29 catches for 244 yards and two touchdowns on 45 targets during his lone campaign with the Patriots.
Gesicki has registered eight receptions for 61 scoreless yards on 16 targets in six games with the Bengals this season.
