The Cincinnati Bengals may not be fully healthy when they face the Pittsburgh Steelers for the second time this season.
The status of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Flacco is up in the air after the 40-year-old suffered an injury during the team’s 39-38 loss to the New York Jets.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor revealed Flacco is dealing with a shoulder injury that caused him to exit the game on Sunday and is considered day-to-day, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

It’s good news, all things considered for Cincinnati, which currently sits in second place in the AFC North with a 3-5 record. Flacco doesn’t seem to be on track to miss much time, if any, after giving the Bengals the offensive boost they were missing since watching quarterback Joe Burrow go down earlier this season.
Since taking over as the Bengals’ starter in Week 6, Flacco has thrown for 784 yards, seven touchdowns and zero interceptions, which included upsetting the Steelers in Week 7.
It’s safe to say head coach Mike Tomlin is still upset the Cleveland Browns dealt Flacco to Cincinnati.
“To be honest, it was shocking to me,” Tomlin said. “Andrew Berry must be a lot smarter than me or us. Because it doesn’t make sense to me to trade a quarterback that you think enough of to make your opening day starter to a division opponent that’s hurting in that area. But that’s just my personal feelings.”
The Steelers are losing their grip on the AFC North after falling to the Green Bay Packers in Week 8, and they already have their second meeting with the Bengals in a few weeks. Barring further injury to his shoulder, Flacco will likely be back for that matchup.
A first-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens, Flacco has thrown for 46,512 yards, 259 touchdowns and 168 interceptions in his professional career.
