On Taylor Doll’s latest Making Monsters, she previews Sunday’s Chicago Bears vs Pittsburgh Steelers game by talking with two people who do an outstanding job covering those two teams. First up, she talks with Jarrett Bailey, who covers the Pittsburgh Steelers for SB Nation’s Behind the Steel Curtain. They talk about all things Steelers, including how offensive coordinator Arthur Smith has changed their offense this year, and also about Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is listed as questionable.
“I’d be surprised if he doesn’t [play], simply because it is the Bears,” Jarrett tells Taylor.
If it were any other NFC team, Jarrett thinks he’d sit out and let Mason Rudolph play, but the history that Rodgers has against Chicago “speaks for itself at that point.”
She previews the Bears’ side of things with Chris Emma of 670 The Score, and they get into the (7-3) start and what it’ll mean when they get Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon back. They also discuss how important it would be for the Bears to ruin Rodgers’ day.
“This is an all-time Chicago sports villain,” Emma said, “there’s nobody close to it for me. This guy, not only is 24-5 against the Bears in his career, he not only has beaten the Bears, he rubs the Bears’ nose in it. He rubs Chicago’s nose in it. He tells the city and the fan base that he owns them. The disrespect is through the roof.”
“You don’t want to see Mason Rudolph play. You don’t want Aaron Rodgers to be on the sideline wearing a visor and shrugging the whole time. Get him out there. This is your chance. He’s 41 years old. He’s not the Aaron Rodgers of old. How many people still talk about when the Bears and Cory Wootten took on Brett Favre on that frozen tundra in Minneapolis and took him down one time? I’m not saying you’re trying to take him out, but I’m saying you want your moment to get some back on him. You want to have that game against Aaron Rodgers where, if this is the last time they play, you say, ‘Hey, we got him one time at the end.'”
