The Chicago Bears haven’t been three games over .500 since 2020, when they last made the postseason. That year, they went (8-8) and made the playoffs in a down NFC, but this season feels like they’ll need to get to 10 or maybe even 11 wins to snag a wildcard spot. Thus far, the NFC has been very competitive, and the Bears need to keep winning to climb into the seven seed. At (5-3), the Bears are currently in the eighth spot, and they have the (2-7) New York Giants up next.
With Chicago in year one of the Ben Johnson era and the Giants in year four under head coach Brian Daboll, these franchises are in completely different places. It was reported earlier this week that Daboll was nearly fired three weeks ago after his team fell apart in Denver, but ownership had a last-minute change of heart. Daboll is (20-39-1) and his seat is warming up. Would a 40th loss push things over the top? The Bears could get a desperate team fighting for their head coach on Sunday.
