As the Chicago Bears prepare for the third game of the season against the Dallas Cowboys, both teams have released their first official injury report for week 3.
The Bears have had some unfortunate injury news of late, with several key members of the defense missing time over the first two weeks of the season. That was made worse this week when we learned that Jaylon Johnson is likely out for the year.
Wednesday’s injury report was not much better as both CB Kyler Gordon (hamstring) and LB TJ Edwards (hamstring) did not practice. Both are considered week to week, and with Johnson out indefinitely, Gordon (who has yet to play this year) would be a welcome return. Unfortunately, he remains out of practice.
Gordon was a surprise addition to the injury report just days before the Bears’ season opener against Minnesota, and he has yet to play in a regular season game this year. Edwards played 30 snaps on defense against the Lions, his first action of the season, before exiting the game due to his hamstring injury.
Also listed as DNP on Wednesday were DL Grady Jarrett (knee) and DB Jaylon Jones (hamstring). Of course, CB Jaylon Johnson also remains a DNP designation.
Practicing in a limited capacity were: OL Kiran Amegadjie (elbow), LB D’Marco Jackson (hamstring), RB D’Andre Swift (quad), and WR Jahdae Walker (ankle).
Altogether, there were five Bears starters on the injury report, including four from the defense (Edwards, Johnson, Gordon, and Jarrett) and one from the offense (Swift).
The Dallas Cowboys had a much shorter injury report on Wednesday. CB DaRon Bland (foot) and CB Trevon Diggs (illness) were listed as DNP. OL Tyler Guyton (shoulder) and WR KaVontae Turpin (neck) were limited.
The Bears take on the Cowboys this Sunday at Soldier Field. The game takes place at 3:25 p.m. (Chicago time).
