As the Chicago Bears prepare for the fifth game of the season against the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football, both teams have released their first official injury report for week six.
The Bears did not practice on Thursday, so the report is an estimation. That being said, there’s some concerns for the Bears, even with the team coming off their bye week.
DB Jaquan Brisker (quad), DL Grady Jarrett (knee), RB Kyle Monangai (thigh), and OL Darnell Wright (elbow) all were listed as DNP (did not practice). That’s three starters. Reports started circulating earlier this week that Brisker wasn’t practicing, which was cause for concern. Wright was injured prior to the bye, as was Jarrett. Monangai played in the Bears’ last game in Las Vegas.
There’s some good news, as two Bears who previously missed game action are listed as “limited.” DB Kyler Gordon (hamstring), OL Jonah Jackson (rib), and TE Colston Loveland (hip) all had the limited designation. Gordon has yet to play this season but has vowed to return against the Commanders. Loveland was out of action against the Raiders.
Finally, DL Austin Booker (knee), LB TJ Edwards (hamstring), RB Travis Homer (calf) and K Cairo Santos (thigh) were full participants. Booker and Homer have recently been designated for return from the IR. The hope is Booker, who was showing flashes in the preseason, will be able to help with the Bears’ struggling pass rush. Additionally, the returns of Edwards (along with Gordon) will hopefully help solidify the Bears’ run defense, which currently ranks second-to-last in the NFL.
The Commanders also released their first injury report of the week. WR Terry McLaurin (quad), RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. (calf) and WR Deebo Samuel (heel/rest) were listed as DNP. TE John Bates (shoulder) and WR Noah Brown (groin/knee) were limited. G Sam Cosmi (knee) and QB Jayden Daniels (knee) were listed as full participants.
The Bears take on the Commanders this Monday night at Northwest Stadium in Landover, MD. The game takes place at 7:15 p.m. (Chicago time).
