The Chicago Bears (2-0-1) closed out an undefeated preseason with a 29 – 27 comeback win over the winless Kansas City Chiefs (0-3). The offense and defense came alive in the second half, but it started rough with the ones, and head coach Ben Johnson was not happy in his post-game press conference, saying he was “disappointed” and that their first two possessions were “really sloppy football.”
He discussed the challenge of playing away from Soldier Field for the first time, saying, “We were gonna find out what type of road team we’re gonna be, and if the first quarter was any indication, it’s not good enough. We’ve gotta get better in a hurry.”
But he was pleased with his offense’s operation in the two-minute drill to close out the first half, and with his team for battling back.
As for the game’s numbers, the Bears outgained the Chiefs (424 to 357), had more first downs (29 to 23), and had a better time of possession (36:36 to 23:24). Kansas City had a better third-down conversion percentage (55.6% to 50.0%), but the Bears converted 2 of 3 on fourth downs.

With so many players participating for the Bears, I’ll split the snap count lists for both the offense and the defense.
Caleb Williams didn’t start as hot as last week, but he finished 5 of 6 for 73 yards and a touchdown on the final drive. Ben Johnson said that Caleb and the ones played that final series becuse they didn’t reach the snap count threshold they wanted the starters to hit. Overall, he was 11 of 15 for 113 yards, 1 TD, and a passer rating of 116.8. He also took a sack, ran twice for 18 yards, and was charged with a fumble on the botched handoff.
In his preseason debut, running back D’Andre Swift had 7 runs for 28 yards and a 6-yard reception.
Rome Odunze had 3 receptions for 45 yards, and he caught Caleb’s TD pass.
Olamide Zaccheaus had 3 grabs for 37.
Rookie Colston Loveland had a 4-yard reception.
Tyson Bagent celebrated his new paper with the comeback win while going 20 of 28 for 212 yards, with 3 TDs, and a 128.9 passer rating. He was sacked once and had 10 yards on 2 carries.
Tight end Joel Wilson had 4 catches for 29 yards and a TD.
Newly signed running back Royce Freeman had 2 receptions for 10 yards and a TD, and he ran 5 times for 22 yards.
UDFA wideout Jahdae Walker had 3 catches for 37 yards and the game-winning TD, plus a tackle on special teams.
