Field Gulls
The Seattle Seahawks can win the NFC West if the San Francisco 49ers lose to the Chicago Bears and the Los Angeles Rams somehow lose to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday. They can win the NFC West and lock up the NFC’s top seed with the Rams lose AND the 49ers and Bears play to a tie. Only a tie is an acceptable outcome in this scenario.
Chicago is still nipping at Seattle’s heels for the NFC’s No. 1 seed, too. The Bears would hold a conference record tiebreaker on the Seahawks, so even if the Seahawks win the NFC West, resting starters for Week 18 won’t be a thing if the Bears win because there’s still the top seed at stake.
I’d rather worry about winning the NFC West first and foremost, which means rooting for the Bears and Caleb Williams! And Rome Odunze! And Seahawks legend Travis Homer! And Kevin Byard! And DJ Moore! And Ben Johnson! Let’s go, Chicago! I’ll never slander deep dish pizza again if you pull this off!
