Free agency and the draft are mere months away - who is your main target to don the Navy and Orange?

The Chicago Bears don’t play football on Sunday. They won’t be playing on another one for roughly 30 more Sundays. If that makes you sad, I get it. But think on the bright side - we get more time to think about the offseason fun!

It’s clear that the Bears have a lot of important decisions to make this year. The need an entirely new coaching staff. They have three draft picks in the top 41 selections. They have at least $83 million in cap space to spend. There is a lot of good that could be coming our way.

Since we can’t control much of anything, let’s imagine we can for one fleeting moment with this question:

Who is the player you are targeting this offseason?

My answer? I have done some draft research and some free agency research and have found myself to be a lot more excited about the free agency class than I am about the draft class.

As such, the player at the top of my wishlist this year is Atlanta Falcons’ Drew Dalman.

Look, I would be excited about a lot of players joining the Bears this offseason. Trey Flowers, Will Campbell, Mason Graham, and Abul Carter would all look great in the trenches in Chicago. I just feel like the Bears have had spotty play at Center ever since Kreutz (and Garza) left town.

Cody Whitehair had a few good seasons, but other than that it’s been a whole lot of Sam Mustipher, Lucas Patrick, and Hroniss Grasu style slop. Enough is enough with the below average Center play and get us someone who can be a calming force in the middle of the OL.

Drew Dalman checks a heck of a lot of boxes:

  • Young at 26 years old.
  • Ranked 4th out of 64 Centers at PFF.
  • 40 career starts.
  • Very athletic - as evidenced by his 9.90 RAS score in 2021.
  • High character guy.

Dalman’s biggest issue are as follows:

  • Missed 8 games due to high ankle sprain in 2024 and 3 games due to injury in 2023.
  • Inconsistent pass blocking ability. Gave up 10 pressures in 2024.

Despite these issues, Dalman would be a boon for the Bears. Pairing Caleb with a young (yet experienced) and ascending Center would bring stability to the OL in a way that hasn’t been present in years.

Now it’s your turn - who is the player you are targeting this offseason? Sound off in the comments!
