Windy City Gridiron
During the Chicago Bears’ 31- 27 win over the Green Bay Packers, they lost a couple of starters to injury.
Linebacker T.J. Edwards had to be carted off the field in the final minute of the half, and left tackle Ozzy Trapillo hopped to the sideline in the waning moments of the fourth quarter. Ozzy getting off the field without the referee needing to stop the game saved the Bears a timeout.
In his postgame press conference, head coach Ben Johnson said that Edwards has a fractured fibula, which will take him out for the remainder of the postseason, and that Trapilo has a patellar tendon injury, which will likely end his season as well.
Before his injury, Edwards had six tackles and a pass defended. D’Marco Jackson, who started four games in the regular season, came into the game when Edwards exited, and he ended with four tackles on defense with a tackle for loss.
Theo Benedet, who had eight regular-season starts at tackle, came in at left tackle after Trapilo left the game.
We’ll learn more about the Bears’ plans at middle linebacker and left tackle during this week as they prepare to host another playoff game in the Divisional round.
