Windy City Gridiron
This is a first.
In all the years we’ve been running the Reacts confidence poll here at WCG, a loss to the Green Bay Packers would have tanked our fans’ confidence in the Chicago Bears. But not this time as 96% of our fanbase are still confident in the franchise’s direction.
The Bears finally have a head coach and coaching staff who can maximize the talent on the roster, coach up the team, and make week-to-week adjustments. The loss to the Packers stung for sure, but we can see where this team is headed because the present is better than expected.
The Ben Johnson effect is real. The culture change is real. The hope we have for the future is real.
I assumed this season would improve from last year’s five win campagn, and I hoped the Bears would be in the hunt for a playoff spot in December, but I never thought they’d be a week removed from the #1 seed in the NFC.
This is a good football team.
Things could still go south over these last four weeks, because the conference is so strong, but right now the Bears control their own destiny. Winning three of their final four should get them in, but there’s a scenario where the Bears go 11-6 and miss the playoffs.
If the Bears win 11 and miss the tourney, I’d be pissed, but also hopeful for 2026 because everything is pointing in the right direction, and they’d have Ben Johnson and Company fuming all offseason.
