Competition is both imminent and continuous as training camp gets underway in earnest. One such position group where additional competition and a potential reunion could take place is in the Chicago Bears’ backfield. An old frenemy of the NFC North has made his appearance at Halas Hall.

Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Bears have brought veteran running back Jamaal Williams for a workout and a visit.

The former Green Bay Packer, Detroit Lion, and most recently New Orleans Saint last played for Ben Johnson in Detroit during the 2022 season. It would prove to be his most productive year yet, scoring a whopping 17 touchdowns and posting over 1K yards on the ground with a respectable 4.1 YPC average. As it stands, the 30-year-old veteran could be added as a short yardage / goal line specialist.

This also raises questions about the immediate availability of 3rd player Roschon Johnson, who left practice recently due to an injury. If you ask me, this is more about bringing in a physical back who has a proven rapport with Ben Johnson as he assembles the best offense possible. The familiar tandem of D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams just might be making a comeback in the NFL as the featured tandem in Chicago for 2025. No signing has been made as of the publishing of this article, but if news breaks, we’ll share it here asap.
