My stance on preseason games hasn’t changed. It’s just practice. No point in getting too high or too low based on the final score or the individual performances on the field. But that said, it’s sure a lot better to see a one-sided butt-whipping in favor of the Chicago Bears than the other way around.
The Buffalo Bills kept most of their first string on the sideline, but Chicago’s ones, twos, and threes all looked capable in the game under their new Ben Johnson-led coaching regime. This was on the heels of a solid joint practice between the two teams, where the Bills did have their first stringers on the field. And before that, Chicago’s offense had a nice day at practice, which means Johnson’s offensive unit has stacked some positive moments together.
My podcast partner, Jeff “JB” Berckes, was at Soldier Field last night, taking in the game, so he has some firsthand thoughts from the game in our latest podcast.
I’m still on short-term IR, but I‘ll be back on our next show for sure, so check out JB rolling solo on a quick Bear & Balanced right here.
Here’s our usual bullet point outline of Bear & Balanced.
