Baltimore Beatdown
Happy Thanksgiving, Flock Nation! I hope everyone got their fill of turkey, because it’s time to turn your attention to other, more important birds: the Baltimore Ravens. They enter Week 13 atop the AFC North, but only due to their tiebreakers over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Ravens need to keep pace with a victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night.
Joe Burrow is back under center for the Bengals, who will be hoping to interrupt the Ravens’ five-game winning streak and keep their playoff hopes alive. Ja’Marr Chase is also returning to the field after a one-game suspension, but Tee Higgins and Trey Hendrickson were both ruled out early in the week.
On paper, this should be an easy matchup, especially at home in primetime, but it is hard to know what to expect out of either offense. Burrow is wearing a carbon fiber turf toe plate in his foot – if someone knows what that means, feel free to explain in the comments – and could be without the mobility that has allowed him to evade sacks in the past. Lamar Jackson has been dealing with a string of injuries and suspect offensive line play has kept the unit from settling into a rhythm.
The Ravens’ saving grace may be the Bengals bottom-ranked, historically-bad defense. They should be able to move the ball enough to put points on the board and hope that their revamped defense can hold serve with Burrow, Chase, and Co.
