For over a decade, Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker was the best kicker in the NFL and rewrote the NFL record books. He could always be relied upon to make a huge kick for the Ravens, no matter the distance.
But, last year, his play dropped off significantly, and is involved in a huge scandal right now involved his alleged conduct with various massage therapists. On Monday, the Ravens, who drafted a kicker in the NFL draft two weeks ago, released Tucker, and their statement was criticized by people including ESPN’s Mina Kimes.
Justin Tucker made either first or second team All-Pro for seven straight years from 2016-2022 as he made over 90% of his field goals in that span. For his career, he’s a remarkable 67% on kicks of over 50 yards and made an NFL-record 66-yarder in 2021.
But, his accuracy has significantly declined the last two years. He’s just 54 of 67 the last two years, and has really fallen off from deep. He’s just 7 of 16 in the last two years from over 50 yards, has been missing kicks from under 50, too.
That, coupled with allegations of misconduct with over a half-dozen massage therapists has made keeping Tucker untenable. But, the statement that the Ravens released on Monday completely ignored the scandal.

Now, it definitely was a football move, in part. But, to ignore the off-the-field stuff may be a bit tone-deaf. Mina Kimes agreed.

Me: Hey maybe don't bend over backwards to praise the incredible resilience of a guy accused by 16 different women of sexual misconduct
You: OH YOU'RE CALLING FOR THE DEATH PENALTY? https://t.co/v6oDnaQ4aV

I think Mina has a point here. But, from the Ravens perspective, Tucker is a franchise legend and they didn’t need to drag the off-the-field stuff, which hasn’t been proven, into it.
Baltimore drafted Arizona kicker Tyler Loop in the 6th round of the 2025 NFL Draft to replace Tucker.
