The Baltimore Ravens endured another disappointing playoff campaign last season and could be getting ready for life without star tight end Mark Andrews, according to one source.
Andrews is undoubtedly one of the most productive pass catchers in team history and remains a fan favorite despite that infamous dropped catch from last term. But it’s been reported that his place on the roster isn’t assured heading into 2025.
The TE was the subject of trade rumors before the NFL Draft in April, but stayed put. While he wasn’t moved, the fact that he was on the block suggests Baltimore is open to moving on.
A piece from Enzo Flojo of Clutchpoints.com claims that the player could be a cut candidate as the Ravens stand to free up $11 million in cap space by releasing or trading him.
Mark Andrews played in all 17 games for Baltimore in 2024, registering 55 receptions for 673 yards and 11 touchdowns, but was responsible for a costly drop in a postseason game against the Buffalo Bills that would have tied the scores on a two-point conversion at the end.
“As such, the need for two high-usage tight ends is being reevaluated,” Flojo writes.
Despite the above, the Ravens parting ways with Mark Andrews via a cut rather than a trade seems unlikely.
The 29-year-old has had a solid career as a TE for the Ravens. He was a First-Team All-Pro in 2021 and has been to three Pro Bowls.
Known for his route-running and reliability in the red zone, Andrews has hauled in 436 total career receptions for 5,530 yards and 51 TDs. Given his ability to create mismatches and overall dependability, he’s been an essential part of the team’s offense.
It will be interesting to see whether his time in Baltimore does indeed come to an end this offseason.
