Baltimore Ravens’ All-Pro on Trade Block?

Entering NFL Week 9 with a 2-5 record, it’s safe to say the Baltimore Ravens‘ season hasn’t gone according to plan. Some might even call it a disaster. With the Nov. 4 NFL trade deadline rapidly approaching, having a losing record could make the Ravens unexpected sellers rather than buyers.

If the Ravens do become sellers, the most obvious candidates to go would be aging players and those on expiring contracts. A trade now would give them a better chance of reaching the postseason elsewhere, effectively improving their odds of winning a Super Bowl ring.

According to Tyler Dragon of USA Today, former All-Pro tight end Mark Andrews is a “name to monitor as the trade deadline approaches.” Plus, he fits the criteria of being in the final year of his contract.

The Ravens do have somewhat of an advantage this week in trade negotiations, as they play on Thursday night rather than Sunday or even Monday. That will give them more time to reach a conclusion on their direction and whether to buy or sell.

If the Ravens lose, the odds of an Andrews trade could increase, especially if a tight end from another playoff contender suffers an injury. Andrews, 30, peaked in 2021 with his lone 1,361 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. His numbers have been on the decline since, but he still posted a very respectable 673 yards and 11 touchdowns last season.

Many teams would love to get that type of production out of their starting tight end, but the Ravens may feel that Isaiah Likely is prepared to fill in capably.
