NFL fans are teeing off on New York Giants tight end Theo Johnson after he was spotted at the New York Knicks’ Game on Friday.

The Giants have already ruled Theo Johnson out for Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Dallas Cowboys with an illness. It’s understandable if Johnson is truly feeling under the weather and unable to play.

But apparently, Johnson isn’t sick enough to stay home and avoid thousands of others in a public setting.

On Friday, the 24-year-old Theo Johnson was spotted at Madison Square Garden to watch the Knicks take on the Atlanta Hawks. The second-year tight end was even featured on the MSG jumbotron:

The Giants will be shorthanded on offense in the regular season finale. They lost superstar wide receiver Malik Nabers for the year with a torn ACL in Week 3. Five weeks later, standout rookie running back Cam Skattebo suffered a gruesome season-ending ankle injury that ended his season.

Along with Johnson, leading wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson are also inactive for Sunday’s clash at MetLife Stadium.

Not much went right for the 2025 Giants, who fired head coach Brian Daboll after an ugly 2-8 start. But along with Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo, Johnson was an encouraging development on offense.

Per Pro Football Reference, Johnson’s 2025 season ends with 45 catches for 528 yards and five touchdowns. Robinson is a pending free agent, but an offensive nucleus of Dart, Nabers, Johnson, Skattebo and offensive tackle Andrew Thomas provides good reason for long-term optimism.
