The early stretch of the Cleveland Browns schedule is challenging this season. They open the year with two AFC North matchups against the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens. Their next three games are against all NFC North teams and could all be tough matchups. The final of those three matchups is the game in London against the Minnesota Vikings. Even though the Vikings may not be the toughest matchup on paper, playing overseas can be disorienting and demanding in other ways. Week 6, they will face the Steelers on the road – Browns fans will know that it is always difficult playing in that environment.
It appears as though one of the more veteran quarterbacks will start this season – either Joe Flacco or Kenny Pickett. If Cleveland does want to start Shedeur Sanders at some point, it probably makes sense to wait until after the gauntlet of those first six weeks. It is important to keep the schedule in mind if the organization wants to set him up for success.
The Browns next three games after that six week stretch are against the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, and New York Jets, which would all be much more manageable for a rookie quarterback.
Let me know what you think in the comments – At what point in the regular season should the Browns start Shedeur Sanders?
