Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith has big expectations for the team’s new duo on offense.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are entering the 2025 NFL regular season after an offseason full of change. The team has several new starters on each side of the ball and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith is especially excited about two on offense.

Smith can’t help but expect greatness from new Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver DK Metcalf this season.

“You’re talking about a guy that’s thrown for 60 some thousand yards. He’s worked with a lot of different receivers,” Smith said. “DK is an explosive player. Just like anything, they have to build that chemistry, and they have. They’ve developed it. Getting things to happen quick, like I said, the rosters flip now more than they did five years ago, 10 years ago, certainly 20 years ago. Those guys, they’ve been awesome. They’ve put a lot of work in together.”

Both players certainly have the makings of being an elite duo. Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, still showed he had some good football left in him last season while throwing for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns with the New York Jets.

Metcalf, on the other hand, is arguably entering his prime after notching at least 900 receiving yards and five touchdowns in each of his first six seasons in the NFL.

Metcalf is being paid to be a true difference maker, too. After Pittsburgh deals its second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft for Metcalf, it also gave him a massive, five-year, $150 million contract.

Rodgers’ best football may be behind him at 41, but together, he and Metcalf could prove to be one of the more underrated duos in the league this season.

Fans will get their first look at the Steelers’ new duo on Sunday when they take on the Jets at MetLife Stadium.
