The NFL’s 101 best players for the 2025 season: 101-91 | SB Nation
101. George Karlaftis, EDGE, Kansas City Chiefs
When most people talk about the Kansas City Chiefs’ pass rush, they start and end with Chris Jones, and that’s justified to a degree, as Jones in on a future Hall of Fame pace. But in doing so, they’re short-changing George Karlaftis, who has become one of defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s most important pieces over the last two seasons.
The 30th overall pick in the 2022 draft has been quite consistent throughout his NFL career. After posting an eight-sack, 49-pressure rookie season in just 536 pass-rushing snaps, Karlaftis had 15 sacks and 83 total pressures in 605 pass-rushing reps in 2023, and 12 sacks with 76 total pressures in 644 pass-rush snaps in 2024.
At 6’4” and 264 pounds, Karlaftis isn’t the “bendiest” edge-rusher on the planet, but he’s learned to use the attributes he does have, like fundamental strength, speed to the pocket, and relentless effort to the quarterback, to maximize his potential. With 30 stops last season, Karlaftis is more than just a quarterback disruptor, as well – he’s become a complete defender at the highest possible level.
Chiefs place DE Felix Anudike-Uzomah on season-ending IR | ESPN
Chiefs defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah, the team’s first-round pick in 2023, was placed on season-ending injured reserve Monday with a strained right hamstring.
Anudike-Uzomah sustained the injury early in the fourth quarter of Friday’s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. He was chasing rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe when he fell to the turf awkwardly and began grabbing the hamstring. While grimacing, Anudike-Uzomah tried to walk off the field but fell to the turf again and signaled to the Chiefs that he needed help. He bowed his head and covered his eyes with his left hand.
Continuing his disappointing tenure with the Chiefs, Anudike-Uzomah’s third season — one the team hoped would lead to him making sizable improvements — now has ended before the preseason finale.
NFL Power Rankings 2025: Who is under the most pressure? | ESPN
Postdraft ranking: 1
Who’s under the most pressure: Wide receiver Rashee Rice
Although he is no longer expected to be suspended for the first four games of the season, Rice will still be under pressure to show he can once again be the No. 1 receiver. In training camp, Rice showed his explosiveness and ability to get yards after the catch. If he excels in September, the Chiefs could have another hot start. If Rice struggles, Kansas City will have to place much of the passing attack on the shoulders of 35-year-old Travis Kelce. — Nate Taylor
