After week one of the 2025 preseason we have some clarification on the battle for the first 53-man roster.
No, it isn’t done with, but we had some players that really showed up and some that looked like they may be on their last leg with the Cardinals.
Let’s check out the stock up, stock down for the Arizona Cardinals after the Arizona Cardinals 20-17 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Isaiah Adams – Stock Up
With offensive line play, I like to get a rewatch in before I go to the grades. Adams was just as a good on a second viewing. That is something to keep an eye on over the next couple of weeks, and making sure he is the guy moving forward.
Owen Pappoe – Stock Down
Another draft pick, this one from 2023, and Pappoe looked like he struggled on initial viewing. It was maybe even worse after I watched it again. His eyes were bad, and while his athleticism is undeniable, freak athletes that don’t know what they are seeing makes them bad athletes.
Jordan Burch – Stock Up
Man oh man. Monti Ossenfort is taking swings and Burch in game one looks like a gem. He has had a nice training camp as well, so getting Burch in the building, letting him learn, grow and then taking over halfway through year two or to start year three would be a huge win.
Royce Newman – Stock Down
Newman was supposed to be the best backup… Has not looked good, and now you see why Will Hernandez coming back was important, and it didn’t have anything to do with the starters.
Xavier Weaver – Stock Up
Man, Weaver is putting in the work and pushing to get into the lineup, not just make the roster. For Weaver, he has grown and continues to get better. Who does he replace would be the question.
