The Arizona Cardinals are not making any deals, but some of their opponents are, and today is one of those days as the San Francisco 49ers are trading for Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson.
I reached out to Niners Nation’s Kyler Posey to ask him what his thoughts were for why they would make this deal…
From Kyle:
Every running back behind CMC is dead.
So, that is something to know.
Robinson in his career has 2,329 yards rushing and 15 touchdowns. Last season, in his year with Kliff Kingsbury he had 799 yards rushing and eight touchdowns, with 20 receptions and 159 yards receiving.
Robinson has played against the Arizona Cardinals twice, and he has had one good game and one plodding game.
In 2023 he had 19 carries for 59 yards, along with one catch for seven yards and a touchdown.
In 2024 he had 21 carries for 101 yards and one touchdown, with three receptions for 12 yards.
He will likely be the lead backup for the Niners behind Christian McCaffrey.
The Niners situation is definitely one to watch, as most of their wide receivers are hurting as well, so it will be interesting to see how things work for them early in the season.
