The Arizona Cardinals head coach search has expanded to 10 names they have requested interviews with.
After the Los Angeles Rams first round win over the Carolina Panthers, the Cardinals have requested to meet with both of the Rams coordinators.
Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur is the 38-year old younger brother of Matt LaFleur, the Green Bay Packers head coach, and he has a great resume.
He was the Atlanta Falcons offensive assistant in 2015-2016, then went to the San Francisco 49ers with Kyle Shanahan, and was the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach from 2017-2020, before heading to the New York Jets where he would be offensive coordinator for two seasons, then has been with the Rams as their OC from 2023 to current.
Meanwhile, Chris Shula is the grandson of the great Don Shula, and has spent nearly his entire career with the Rams.
He had a short two year stint as the then San Diego Chargers defensive quality control coach, before moving to the Rams in 2017. His jobs with the Rams:
The Rams defense improved in each of his two seasons as DC, but his work only with the Rams does beg the question what his pull for assistant coaches would look like, although as a Shula, maybe he has some connections.
