Arizona Cardinals May Be Moving Closer to Kyler Murray Trade

Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals started their season on a high note, getting back-to-back wins. It’s been nothing but ugly ever since.

A Week 8 bye gave the Cardinals a chance to reset. But now they head into a pivotal Monday Night Football matchup against the NFL’s second-highest scoring offense in the Dallas Cowboys. In other words, the Cardinals’ offense will have to be at their best, just to keep pace with Dallas. Yet, Murray may be set to miss his third consecutive game, giving way to another start by Jacoby Brissett.

Some have even speculated that Murray’s latest injury gave the Cardinals a reason to bench their starting QB, while blaming the reason on the former No. 1 overall pick not being 100%. Others are wondering if the Cardinals are preparing to trade Murray in the near future.

Specifically, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio recently asked if Murray and the Cardinals could be headed for an “offseason divorce.” Heck, if the Cardinals lose on Monday night, they’d possibly prefer to just smash the reset button and trade Murray right now, but his $43 million cap hit makes that idea more of a dream than a potential reality.

Florio goes on to state that it “feels as if” the Cardinals are moving in a direction to part ways with Murray this offseason, and he lists a large number of teams that could feel compelled to chase him. Those include the Dolphins, Jets, Steelers, Browns, Raiders, Vikings, and Saints. That’s just how the outlook appears right now, things will certainly change over the next few months.

For now, the Cardinals just have to hope that Murray can return to health and start performing like a franchise QB again. If all goes well, he’ll cement his status as their starting QB for the 2026 season and years to come. If not, he could be forced to find a new team in the near future.
