The Arizona Cardinals are a fit for a veteran receiver per ESPN.
Happy Wednesday one and all.
Yesterday we went over how ESPN had Josh Sweat (their seventh best free agent) as a fit for the Arizona Cardinals.
Today, well there was a second player that ESPN listed as a fit in their top 50 free agents and this one may be a little more surprising.
From E$PN:
Best team fit: Arizona Cardinals
Cooper is showing signs of decline, and he lost reps to Mack Hollins in the playoffs, but he still has solid route traits. The Cardinals would love a veteran like him alongside Marvin Harrison Jr., while also giving Kyler Murray another target in the route tree. In nine full seasons, Cooper has topped the 1,000-yard-receiving mark seven times and has 64 career touchdown catches.”
This one is surprising in the sense that the Cardinals probably need a wide receiver, and the explanation of the team needing a veteran mentor for the young room makes sense, but Cooper seems like an expensive, albeit talented mentor.
I am interested how they deploy their salary space, but not sure Cooper is where I would use it.
