PALM BEACH, Fla. — Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s the changes to the NFL schedule and television landscape that have impacted the team and its fans.
The NFL is moving to make more and more of its schedule standalone, opening new windows in recent years early on Sundays with games in Europe, on Black Friday and now on Christmas, where it appears there will be at least an annual doubleheader, and this year, there will be three games.
Most of those moves are made with the idea of growing both the domestic and television audiences of the league — a primary driver of revenue.
But they also come at significant inconvenience to Steelers fans.
Alan breaks it down.
