Knowing they needed to create more competition, while having a capable backup plan in place, the Indianapolis Colts prioritized signing Daniel Jones this offseason. Yet, in a perfect world, Anthony Richardson would still emerge as the starter after the Colts invested the 2023 NFL Draft’s fourth overall pick into the young, raw quarterback.
However, after Richardson was unable to participate in the team’s mandatory minicamp due to lingering shoulder soreness on his previously surgically-repaired arm, serious doubts emerged about his ability to win the starting QB job. After all, those were valuable reps that Jones was able to benefit from, building chemistry with the Colts’ top receivers.
Yet, now as the Colts’ training camp approaches on July 24, Richardson is apparently healthy and ready to roll.
According to Richardson, he’s “all good” when it comes to his previous shoulder injury.
Even when Richardson’s initial injury surfaced, reports suggested he’d likely be fine in time for training camp. In other words, this news doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise, yet it’s always good to know that the pain has subsided and that no further action is required before Richardson can resume practicing with his teammates again.
