Steelers Now
Yet another team could potentially be interested in signing Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson this offseason.
Wilson has already been connected to the Las Vegas Raiders, where his former coach Pete Carroll is taking over as head coach.
Now another team has emerged as a potential candidate to sign away the Steelers’ starter. The New York Giants were interested in Wilson in 2024, and he took a free agent visit to New York before eventually signing in Pittsburgh.
According to a report by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN on Saturday, Wilson to the Giants could be picking up steam again in 2025.
“Wilson has also been connected to the Giants by a few people this week,” Fowler wrote. “He visited with the Giants last free agency, and New York is on his radar as a potential option in 2025.”
Wilson has remained steadfast that he’d like to return to the Steelers, rebuffing rumors of rejoining Carroll with the Raiders at the 2025 Pro Bowl Games in Orlando.
“I’m looking forward to hopefully going back to the Steelers and we’ll see what happens with the rest,” Wilson said.. “I love it in Pittsburgh. … Pete’s going to be a great coach, obviously. He’s great at what he does. But I’m focused on the Steelers.”
That came before a series of conflicting reports that detailed a strained relationship between Wilson and Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. Others contended those reports were inaccurate, and were seeded by Wilson’s public relations team.
The Steelers are likely to sign one of their two incumbent quarterbacks, especially with top potential trade option Matt Stafford likely to remain with the Los Angeles Rams.
Until they sign one of Wilson or Justin Fields, it’s going to be another quarterback circus of an offseason for the Steelers.
If Wilson leaves Pittsburgh, the oddsmakers think he’s most likely to head to Las Vegas, but don’t rule out the Giants, who have the second-best odds of landing him.
