After Thursday’s OTA session, Kansas City’s head coach said the rookie left tackle will be ready for training camp.

After the Kansas City Chiefs selected tackle Josh Simmons with the 32nd pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, head coach Andy Reid said that the fromer Ohio State star — who suffered a patellar tendon injury in mid-October — would “definitely” be ready for training camp and might “be able to do some stuff before then.”

Simmons was present for the third session of the team’s Phase 3 organized team activities (OTAs) on Thursday, but his participation was limited. After the practice, Reid again told reporters that the team “for sure” expects Simmons to be ready when training camp begins in late July.

“We might be able to get something out of him in the team periods in Phase 3 here,” added Reid. “So that’s a positive; we weren’t expecting to be able to do that. He’s really done a good job with his rehab stuff — and the doctor that did his surgery did a nice job.”

The Chiefs will have seven more OTA sessions. Another set of three will begin on Monday, with four more scheduled for the week after that. We can expect that when reporters speak with Reid again on Wednesday, he’ll be asked for additional updates about Simmons.
