The Kansas City Chiefs’ season concluded on Sunday as Travis Kelce may have played in his final game.
Kelce played what could be his final home game at Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day. He looked like he wanted to cry during the National Anthem before the contest. All signs seem to point to him hanging up his cleats.
Asked about Travis Kelce’s timetable for making a decision about his future, Andy Reid decided to break his silence.
“I know everybody wants an answer right this minute,” Reid said Monday. He would be correct. Kansas City Chiefs fans, NFL fans, and Swifties would love to know the answer.
On Sunday, Travis Kelce had two receptions in the 14-12 loss at the Las Vegas Raiders. He became the third tight end to surpass 13,000 career receiving yards.
“I know everybody wants the answer right this minute, but it’s something that you’ve got to go through,” Reid said. “There are a lot of variables there, but we all love Trav, so we know that. Trav can still play, and I’m not questioning that part or any of it.”

“I just know there’s some time. It’s a little bit of the same way we looked (at it) last year. You’ve got a little bit of time to figure everything out.”
Following a Week 17 loss to the Denver Broncos that dropped them to 6-10, Travis Kelce spoke on retirement plans. “A whole lot of emotions,” Kelce said afterward.
“You’ve got everybody in the world watching you. You get to go out there with the young guys on prime-time television. Young guys getting an opportunity to taste what this NFL life is like.”
When it came to retirement questions, he said, “I’ll let that be a decision I’ll make with my family, friends, the Chiefs organization when the time comes.”
Travis Kelce contemplated retirement after losing in Super Bowl LIX last season. However, he mentioned that the decision to return was made quickly. Now, after his 13th NFL season, he faces another tough choice.
His decision will come on the heels of him getting married to Taylor Swift in June.
