Rashee Rice was planning to have a breakout year in 2025, but with an impending suspension, it will be impossible to do so.

Now, even his own coach is making light of his incident.

On July 17, the Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver was sentenced to five years of probation and 30 days of jail time for his role in a multi-car crash in Dallas during the 2024 offseason.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Rice will likely serve a multi-game suspension.

Despite all of this, Chiefs coach Andy Reid couldn’t help but make a joke about his issues.

During a media opportunity on Friday, head coach Andy Reid hilariously made a speeding pun when referring to Rashee Rice, whether it was intended or not.

“He’s done a nice job off the field and nice job on the field,” Reid said.

“Sometimes you learn from your mistakes, so that’s the important part. You’ve got all of that, and then on the field, he’s just been full speed ahead. No pun intended.”

Kansas City Chiefs Believe They Know How Many Games Rashee Rice Will Miss

The Kansas City Chiefs were without top wide receiver Rashee Rice for 13 games last season after he suffered a torn LCL in his right knee.

The Chiefs may be without him for a significant amount of time in 2025 once the NFL announces his impending suspension for his involvement in a 2024 hit-and-run incident.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that a Dallas County judge sentenced Rice to jail time, which can be served during the five-year probation. Schefter also noted “now that the judge has ruled, the NFL can expedite its disciplinary process and Rice is likely to receive a multi-game suspension.”

For his team, the Chiefs believe that Rashee Rice will be handed a suspension that could be anywhere from two to four games.

The 25-year-old Rice is entering his third NFL season after the Chiefs took him in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
