Rashee Rice was planning to have a breakout year in 2025, but with an impending suspension, it will be impossible to do so.

The Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver pleaded guilty in Dallas to charges stemming from a high-speed, chain-reaction crash on a Dallas highway in 2024. Rice pleaded guilty to two felony charges related to the receiver’s role in a multi-car crash last year.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation as part of a plea agreement. Rice was sentenced to deferred probation as a result of the plea deal, meaning that his case will be dismissed if he successfully completes probation.

Despite all of this, Chiefs coach Andy Reid revealed shocking news about him.

Reid stated that Rashee Rice will still attend the team’s training camp this week, which begins on Tuesday. He is expected to be a full participant, even though his future availability during the season is uncertain.

“We’re going to progress as normal with him,” Reid said, via the Associated Press.

“He’ll go in and take all the reps that he’ll normally take. We always rotate that position. Depending on what happens here with the future—whoever needs to play will step in and know what they are doing and be in good shape to do it.”

It hasn’t been decided when Rice will serve his jail sentence, as the time is flexible.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the 30 days of jail time can be served at any point during Rice’s five years on probation.

Rice will return to the Chiefs in 2025 after an LCL injury sidelined him for most of the 2024 campaign.

Rashee Rice Facing Lengthy Suspension

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years’ probation for his role in a multi-car crash in 2024. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported last Thursday that a Dallas County judge sentenced Rice to jail time, which can be served during the five-year probation.

Rice has also paid restitution to the victims, including about $115,000 in restitution for their out-of-pocket medical bills.

The Chiefs believe that Rashee Rice will be handed a suspension that could be anywhere from two to four games.

It hasn’t yet been released how many games Rice will be suspended for, but the suspension is likely to take place for the 2025 campaign.
