Will the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offseason additions help them finally end their postseason win drought this season?

The Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping to end their eight-year postseason win drought this season, but the first step to doing that is by making the playoffs. NFL Network analytics expert Cynthia Frelund isn’t confident that is going to happen, though.

Frelund predicts the Steelers will finish with about 8.3 wins this season, which puts them eighth or ninth in the standings and just missing the postseason.

“I see them just on the outside. Maybe a bubble team,” Frelund said on “Good Morning Football.” “If a few of those games go in a different direction, they could make it in. But it’s hard for me to say. I’m looking at their division, and I’m saying you’re not gonna pass the Ravens to win the division, which would be my most certain way for them to make the playoffs.”

Baltimore looks to have one of the most complete rosters in the league once again, and it’s coming off back-to-back AFC North titles. Pittsburgh’s uphill climb to dethrone the Ravens doesn’t stop there, either.

The Steelers must also play the NFC North and AFC East on top of their divisional games this season. That has resulted in a lot of excitement, given the recent addition of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who will get to face his former teams, the New York Jets and Green Bay Packers.

However, Frelund thinks both games could have major playoff implications come the end of the year, especially if Pittsburgh can’t escape them with a win.

“Where are the games that could be pivotal,” Frelund asked. “Week 1 against the Jets, that’s interesting. Are these desperate pieces going to come together in time to beat the Jets? Because that could be a pivotal game come the end of the season where that could be one of those difference making games. And then October 26. That’s when they play the Packers. That could be another one.”
