Offensive line guru and author of the Trench Warfare Substack, Brandon Thorn, offered high praise of a pair of Steelers in his annual top-75 offensive line rankings.

After a strong rookie campaign, Zach Frazier came in as his third-ranked center entering the 2025 season. The Bleacher Report analyst explained his bullish outlook by saying:

“Frazier put on a show as a rookie last season with elite-level play strength and a ‘feel’ for angles and leverage far beyond his years. This put him in constant positions of balance and strength that allowed him to impose his will at a level rarely seen from a rookie. His performance and the physical presence he provides in both the run and pass game were good enough for me to feel more than comfortable slotting him in this high.”

The West Virginia product wasn’t the only one who garnered recognition in this exercise, with veteran guard Isaac Seumalo coming in as his 10th-ranked left guard. Following an early season injury, the 31-year-old bounced back with another steady campaign as a veteran presence for an otherwise youthful group. As for what Thorn appreciates about his game at this stage of his career, he detailed:

“Seumalo is the quintessential crafty veteran guard who does everything at a solid level. His calling card is play speed. Using good quickness and snappy decision-making, he manipulates space and leverage well while consistently operating on time (sorting games, working combinations, etc.). This helps circumvent his average size, length, and raw power, allowing him to function when physically outmatched by dying slowly in his anchor and using positional leverage to seal off rush lanes.”

In order for the Steelers offense to compete with the other juggernaut units in the AFC, they’ll need the offensive line to take a sizable leap forward this fall. Getting Troy Fautanu back offers significant upside, and it wouldn’t be a shock to see him land on this list 12 months from now.

If you’re interested in more in-depth conversation regarding the Steelers trenches, Brandon joined me last month to talk about the group as a whole: their strengths, where there is room for improvement, and the ceiling for this unit next season.
