ESPN Analyst said on Get Up that Aaron Rodgers will be successful because of Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.

There are two polarizing figures with the Pittsburgh Steelers. First, there is quarterback Aaron Rodgers. After a long-awaited decision, Rodgers joined the Steelers. One of the reasons he did so was the presence of another figure in Pittsburgh: head coach Mike Tomlin. On Thursday, ESPN’s Mike Greenberg discussed the Rodgers-Tomlin duo’s 2025 season ahead.

“I know you’re tired of talking about Aaron Rodgers, but hear me out,” Greenberg said as he opened up on his show Get Up. “There is good reason to expect him to succeed this year. In fact, there are lots of good reasons.”

Greenberg, a known New York Jets fan, has been high on the Steelers’ acquisition of Rodgers. However, on Thursday, the longtime ESPN analyst pointed to the reasons Rodgers could succeed: Tomlin.

“All [of those reasons] are named Mike Tomlin.” Greenberg declared.

For starters, Greenberg highlighted Tomlin with his former Hall of Fame quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The Tomlin-Roethlisberger duo combined for 136 wins.

Those 136 wins trail only Tom Brady and Bill Belichick for the most in league history. Tomlin and Roethlisberger, of course, went to two Super Bowls and won one. The loss was to none other than Rodgers in Super Bowl XLV.

What may have solidified Greenberg’s confidence with Rodgers in Pittsburgh was his next point. Despite Rodgers not being as young as he once was, Tomlin has posted a 47-37-1 record without Roethlisberger.

“That is an average of 10-7 per year.” Greenberg highlighted. In other words, Tomlin has put together winning seasons despite the absence of Roethlisberger.

Greenberg emphasized that the record comes with 11 different starting quarterbacks. “You tell me which of those guys Rodgers is not going to outplay?” Greenberg asked the audience.

Yes, the postseason success is well noted. Even in the final five seasons of the Roethlisberger era, Tomlin and his team couldn’t advance in the playoffs. However, the Steelers have exceeded their expected win totals in each season since Roethlisberger’s retirement.

Greenberg also made sure everyone knew that the Steelers have won 65% of their games in one-possession contests. In contrast, Rodgers and the Jets were 0-7 last season.

To wrap it all up, it is known that Rodgers historically takes very good care of the football. The Steelers’ record since 2022 when they don’t turn the ball over is 17-2.

It is clear, Greenberg is all in on the Steelers succeeding in some capacity with Rodgers. What will that success be? A winning season? A postseason victory? A Super Bowl? Time will tell as the preseason comes to a close.
