Fans may be continuing to celebrate the Philadelphia Eagles’ victory in Super Bowl LIX, but for the team itself, the quest for back-to-back Vince Lombardi Trophies has already begun.

The organization will have to find a way to keep the best roster in the NFL one step ahead of the competition in order to give itself a great shot at another championship.

A few of the Eagles’ key players, especially on defense, will be free agents, and ESPN analyst Bill Barnwell named the one player who needs to be at the top of their list.

“You’d love to bring everybody back, but the priority needs to be Zack Baun,” Barnwell said, via NFL on ESPN.

The Eagles defense was arguably the best in football, and that defense harassed Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes into the worst performance he has had in a consequential game in quite some time.

This season, Baun played a big role by leading the Eagles with 151 tackles (93 solo) and posting 11 tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, 3.5 sacks, five forced fumbles and four passes defended.

His play this season earned him Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors for the first time since he entered the league in 2020.

The Eagles signed the linebacker as a free agent last offseason, and keeping their core together is a necessity if they are to go all the way again.

The NFC won’t be any easier in 2025, and thus, they may need to be even better to remain on top.
