The pairing of Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy paints the Pittsburgh Steelers as a team that believes it can contend for a Super Bowl title this upcoming season.

NFL Draft on SI’s Justin Melo recently stressed that a few of the Steelers’ newcomers need to live up to expectations in order for McCarthy’s team to win its first playoff game since Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd and The Chainsmokers were the day’s popular music artists.

“The Pittsburgh Steelers are all-in on the 2026 season after hiring Mike McCarthy as head coach and welcoming Aaron Rodgers back at quarterback,” Melo wrote Wednesday. “They’ll need immediate contributions from their rookie class to get them where they want to go. First-round offensive tackle Max Iheanachor provides insurance for the injury situation surrounding regular starter Broderick Jones.

“Second-round pick Germie Bernard was arguably the most pro-ready wide receiver prospect in the entire draft class. His skill set should really complement what DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. bring to the table. If Bernard is as-advertised underneath the coverage, he’ll help maximize Rodgers in the quarterback’s age 43 season.”

Iheanachor, who was taken with the No. 21 overall pick of April’s draft and projects to be one of the Steelers’ regular offensive tackles at some point, will get to show where he’s at progression-wise at St. Vincent College later this month. Bernard, meanwhile, has been training with Route God and figures to switch in with third-year wideout Roman Wilson to supplement the attack.

The Steelers arrive at training camp on July 28.
