The Philadelphia Eagles play the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59 on Sunday. A lifelong fan will be in attendance thanks to a grand gesture by the organization.

Ryan Quigley is a former Princeton football player. He was a member of the Tigers‘ most prolific offense in program history. He’s also a huge Birds fan, which Jason Kelce learned this year.

On Sunday, Quigley will be in attendance in New Orleans, a city he vowed never to return to after the horrific events on New Year’s Eve. He was in the Big Easy to celebrate with former teammate Tiger Bech.

Bech was killed in an attack in the French Quarter. He saved a life in his final act. Quigley was injured and is still continuing through his recovery process.

Quigley also vowed to take Bech to a Super Bowl if the Eagles were able to make it back. That happened one month after Bech passed. Philadelphia found out about the duo’s fandom and surprised the former college footballer with tickets.

Quigley broke his personal promise in order to keep the one he made to his friend. He’ll attend in Tiger Bech’s honor.

Former Philadelphia center Jason Kelce was emotional on Sunday while speaking on the gesture. He broke down in tears during his broadcast before Super Bowl 59.

“There’s some awful people in this world,” Kelce said. “I had the fortune to meet Ryan. His spirit – you wouldn’t even know something happened… On one end, something terrible can happen. Then, on the other end, something so beautiful can happen. “I’m just happy that he’s going to be here.”

The Bech family will be honored on the field during that game.
