Cassandra DiFruscio performed The Star-Spangled Banner ahead of the Seahawks-49ers game.

However, some fans have criticized the NFL for choosing her after learning about her background. The Seahawks entered Saturday’s game with the chance to win the NFC West and clinch the No. 1 seed.

Before the two teams clashed, fans were unhappy before the game began, after learning more about the national anthem singer.

NFL Fans Were Fuming Over Cassandra DiFruscio Singing The National Anthem

Country legend and Army Reserve veteran Craig Morgan performed “God Bless America.” Cassandra DiFruscio then performed the national anthem. Although she lives in Nashville, she is not a native of the United States. The singer is originally from Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.

Despite showing her respect, some fans complained about her Canadian status.

“Is it weird to have a Canadian sing our national anthem?” one fan asked.

“Why is a Canadian-born, Nashville-based performer singing the American national anthem at a football game in California? And why was it so terrible?” a second person asked.

“So Craig Morgan just opened up for some unknown Canadian “vocalist” that butchered our National anthem. More woke garbage from the fading NFL. 🙄,” a third person said of Cassandra DiFruscio.

Unlike that Saturday contest, the Tampa Bay Bucs were celebrated. Shanda Roberts took center stage at Raymond James Stadium to sing the Anthem. She is the mother of Buccaneers defensive lineman Elijah Roberts.

Despite the complaints from fans, DiFruscio has established herself as an experienced anthem vocalist.

According to her official website, she has performed The Star-Spangled Banner at more than 100 notable sporting events. Despite how American fans feel, she is doing what she loves, and she does it well.
