PITTSBURGH — Shortly before their do-or-die Week 18 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens, the Pittsburgh Steelers listed their inactives, led by second-year wideout Roman Wilson.

Rookie tailback Kaleb Johnson, cornerback Tre Flowers, linebacker Jeremiah Moon and offensive tackle join Wilson as those who won’t dress.

Rookie Will Howard will serve as the Steelers’ emergency third quarterback.

Wilson, a 2024 third-round draft pick, hasn’t been able to find his groove in the professional ranks. Much like he will be against the Ravens, he’s been a healthy scratch a handful of times this season.

With DK Metcalf suspended and Calvin Austin III out with an injury, Wilson played against the Cleveland Browns last week, but didn’t get so much as a target from Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Before then, he hadn’t taken the field since November, when the Steelers hosted and were badly beaten by the Buffalo Bills. Wilson has 12 grabs for 166 yards and two touchdowns during his sophomore campaign.

Had Pittsburgh beaten the Cleveland Browns on the road last Sunday, Steelers fans might have gotten their first look at Howard, the Ohio State product who led the Buckeyes to a College Football Playoff national championship last year.

With the loss to the Browns, the Steelers put themselves in an awfully precarious position. If they beat John Harbaugh’s crew, they’ll earn the AFC North crown and the right to host a postseason game at Acrisure Stadium next week.

A loss puts the nail in the coffin for Mike Tomlin’s team.
