An All-Pro wide receiver that the Pittsburgh Steelers have shown interest in is officially hitting the trade market, as Los Angeles Rams start Cooper Kupp announced on Monday evening that his team plans to trade him this offseason.
Kupp, 31, has two seasons remaining on his contract with the Rams. He’s owed $20 million in 2025 and $19.85 million in 2026. Only $5 million of that money is guaranteed.
There had been speculation about Kupp’s future with the team following the end of the regular season. He made the announcement that he’s being traded in a post to social media.
“I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships,” Kupp wrote. “I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.

“Still, if there’s one thing that I have learned over the years: there are so many things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to these things that you will look back on and remember.”
Kupp has had three straight seasons impacted by injury. He played nine games in 2022 and 12 each in 2023 and 2024 while dealing with multiple ankle injuries and a hamstring issue. He has also seen his per-game productivity drop from his career high of 114.5 yards per game in his All-Pro season of 2021, to 90.2 in 2022, 61.4 in 2023 and 59.2 in 2024.
The Steelers have been searching relentlessly for depth at the wide receiver position since
They added Mike Williams in a trade from the New York Jets at the deadline, but were unable to integrate him into the offense with much success. He finished with nine catches over nine games with the Steelers.
The Steelers reportedly called about trading for Kupp during the 2024 season, and could be interested in doing so again this offseason.
Four of the team’s regular receivers from 2024, Williams, Van Jefferson, Ben Skowronek and Scotty Miller, are set to hit free agency this offseason.
