Buffalo Rumblings
The Buffalo Bills are set to take on the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in Week 2 of NFL action. Buffalo enters New Jersey 1-0, having knocked off an equal Super Bowl contender in the Baltimore Ravens. The Jets are 0-1, but gave the Pittsburgh Steelers all they could handle in a narrow defeat.
There are concerns among Bills Mafia about the makeup of this year’s team, especially on defense. Can the Bills handle a physical Jets team in NJ? If they pulled off an improbable comeback win against the observably best among physical NFL squads, today should prove no different, correct?
None but time, and the result of this afternoon, can tell us that answer. This is the first of a two-game AFC East stand, where Buffalo has to endure a quick turnaround and welcome the Miami Dolphins to Highmark Stadium for a game under the lights of Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime.
These aren’t your father’s, or grandfather’s Bills, folks. This team is a hot television commodity, which means a 1 p.m. EDT start is the exception now, not the norm. If they hope to take this franchise places it hasn’t been in 31 years, and hoisting a trophy never before touched, they must convincingly take down opponents in their way, while also relying on a little luck along the way.
While it’s important not to take them lightly, beating the Jets this afternoon should be less about luck.
