That feels telling.
The Cincinnati Bengals have a big offseason ahead with several free agents set to hit the open market.
One of those is linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither. After signing a one-year deal with the Bengals last spring, he is set to hit the market in March.
Ahead of his upcoming free agency, he has made a switch to a different agency.
Davis-Gaither will now be represented by Athletes First, the agency owned by David Mulugheta.
For those of you that follow the Bengals closely, you will know this could be a telling sign that Davis-Gaither could very well end up on another team in 2025. The Bengals and Mulugheta don’t exactly have the best history when it comes to hammering out extensions.
Davis-Gather appeared in all 17 games for the Bengals in 2024 and after Logan Wilson went down with a knee injury, he got to see the field in a more expanded role. Davis-Gaither finished the season with 82 tackles (41 solo), four tackles for loss and one interception that came in Week 2 vs. the Kansas City Chiefs.
This doesn’t mean Davis-Gaither is for sure leaving, but it certainly seems to be an indication of him looking for a payday elsewhere.
