Crossing Broad
A.J. Brown didn’t speak to reporters:
Probably for the best when taking our mental health into consideration, but it sure looks corny after you catch just three of your seven targets for 25 yards in a home playoff game. DeVonta Smith spoke to reporters. Always does. Brown, according to reporters, shook hands with some of his teammates before walking out the door.
There were two passes in the first half, one a deep shot that was tough for him to reel him, then a sideline go ball that hit him in the hands. Has A.J. Brown ever left his feet to dive for a pass like that? I can’t remember one off the top of my head, but as good as he is, and as good as he has been for the Eagles, it feels like he didn’t make the spectacular play this season that you see other WR1s across the league make. Oftentimes he just never seemed like he was 100% dialed in, but only A.J. really knows.
Then there was this:
Honestly that’s the perfect way to end his season, with a dart going right through his hands. Then Jalen Hurts, on 4th down, throws into triple coverage for Dallas Goedert, who has been reliable all season long and actually played well in this game. You can’t take a more fitting snapshot for the yearbook.
End of the day, A.J. Brown finishes this turd of a season with his fewest receiving yards as an Eagle, despite leading the team in targets. He played 15 games.
